I love this character and his development into the monster that kills Superman in the future. So far Smallville has done wayyy better then I thought they would with this character and really focused on making him the best that they possible could make him. Davis Bloome is a paramedic and wants to help people and this song really reflects his personality. He wants to be a good person and help people but he can't with the monster growing inside of him. He can fight and fight as much as he wants but eventually he'll fall to the power of the darkness inside of him and he'll be be faced to see his true colors.
